John Cena Puts Over The Miz

John Cena appeared on the ESPN Fantasy Focus Podcast and was asked which younger wrestlers are standing out. “Finding talent is not a problem,” Cena said. “I think we have a flux of young talent.”

Cena listed Cody Rhodes, Ted DiBiase, Kofi Kingston, Wade Barrett, David Otunga, Justin Gabriel, Skip Sheffield, Daniel Bryan, Michael McGillicutty, Husky Harris, Alex Riley, and The Miz. “There is more young talent now than there was in 2002 when there was a similar change of the guard,” Cena said.

John Cena: “The Miz is WWE’s next Mega Commodity”

Well today has been a busy day on our twitter. Not only did Miz tweet us (and a visitor) about his 4 year thing today, we had a reply from THE John Cena! I asked him what he thought on Miz and I also made a pretty lame mistake in the tweet. Cena replied too quickly for me to change it.

THEMIZNET: @JOHNCENA What are your thoughts on The Miz? Do you see he him going far?

And his reply.

JOHNCENA: @THEMIZNET the miz is wwes next mega commodity. I hate him, which is why I like him. He’s……awsome.

NXT Coverage – 31/08

We go to Ashley Valence in the ring as she makes her big return and she brings out the pros. Miz has something to say as he comes out and he says that it is time to scream at the top of your lungs for his rookie. The only rookie who has proven that he is ready to be WWE’s next breakout star. The rookies will wrestle tonight in a Triple Threat Match. Kaval pushes Miz and Riley and McGillicutty fight. Kofi throws Miz out of the ring and Michael throws Riley to the floor.

Alex Riley def. Michael McGillicutty and Kaval

It is time to go to Matt Striker and before we get our first elimination, Matt wants to ask the Failure Five what they think. He asks Titus who should win and why. Titus says that you have a ninja, Will Ferrell’s lookalike and a guy who is trying to relive his high school football days. He says the football guy should win. Eli says that Alex Riley should win. He says that Alex is the most likeable. Lucky Cannon says that it won’t be the guy who runs around in a diaper, the middle aged guy who is still living in high school. He doesn’t care because the show was flushed when he was eliminated. Percy Watson says that Michael McGillicutty will win because he has the lineage. Husky Harris says that Michael will win season two because Michael was just born better.

It is time for the Random Who Get EliminatedTron 5000 and it is Alex Riley.

Miz is outraged while Kofi is loving the elimination.

Matt asks Alex for some final words. Alex says the worst part is listening to Matt talk over him. Alex says that his father was not a sports entertainer and he did not spend his youth wrestling in bars to get an internet following. Before this competition started, nobody knew who he was. However, he is standing in the ring almost the next WWE breakout star. Alex says that everyone believes that he is the most talented kid in this contest. Alex says that if he was a betting man, he would still bet the future of the WWE on Alex Riley.

4 Years Ago Today: Miz’s WWE In-Ring Debut

The title says it all. Four years ago today The Miz (also known as Mike Mizanin) made his WWE in-ring debut. Vintage Miz! The customized pants which seemed to get longer over the years, the blonde mohawk and the white long socks was his style back then! Boy has he changed now. This was the era when it wasn’t ‘IM AWESOME!‘, it was ‘HOO-RAH!‘. Here is WWE.com’s write up of the match.

Last week during an interview with 2006 Diva Search Winner Layla, The Miz told the world that he would be making his in-ring debut this week on SmackDown. The former reality TV star took on Tatanka in his debut, and surprised everyone when he picked up an impressive victory. The enthusiastic newcomer took advantage of a distracted Tatanka, who for the third week in a row spent more time arguing with the referee than focusing on his opponent. Mizanin’s victory however, was not without controversy, as he mocked the Native American’s culture throughout the match, and then used the ropes for leverage on the pin. After the match, the Miz celebrated his first victory like he had just won the World Championship. Nonetheless, despite what some people predicted for the Miz, he wasn’t exactly a flop in his big debut.

And who would of thought 4 years later Miz would of achieved this?

  • World Tag Team Championship (2 times) – with John Morrison (1) and The Big Show (1)
  • WWE Tag Team Championship (2 times) – with John Morrison (1) and The Big Show (1)
  • WWE United States Championship (2 times, current)
  • Mr. Money in the Bank (July 2010)
  • Slammy Award for Best WWE.com Exclusive (2008) – with John Morrison
  • Slammy Award for Tag Team of the Year (2008) – with John Morrison

All of us here at theMIZ.net are very proud of how far Miz has come. When people doubted him and said he couldn’t do it, well – he did. Digitals and screencaptures have been put up in the gallery awhile back so if you haven’t already, check them out! Well done Mike! Here’s to many more years to come.
