Will The Miz be Busted Open?

Former WWE Champion The Miz will be in New York City on July 28th for Sirius XM’s Celebrity Fantasy Sports Draft, but Doug Mortman and Dave LaGreca, hosts of Sirius XM’s wrestling show, Busted Open, would love to have the former WWE Champion on their show the day before. Specifically, Dave LaGreca, who issued the open challenge on the July 20th broadcast.

“He’s going to be in the city. He’ll be here for the Fantasy Draft. Let’s see if he comes into Busted Open. All the stars have come into Busted Open. Cena, Jericho, Austin, let’s see if he’ll show up.”

LaGreca has been very vocal about The Miz for months now stating that he’s a “glorified jobber,” a “permanent midcarder” and has proclaimed his lack of faith in The Miz as a Main Eventer. It is unknown if The Miz knows was LaGreca has been saying about him, but it is rare that The Miz lets anyone have the last laugh.

With guests such as Vince McMahon, John Cena, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels, there is no doubt that The Miz would love to add his name to the list of legendary Busted Open guests. Will The Most Must See WWE Champion in WWE history accept the challenge from The Most Must Hear Show in wrestling radio? Will The Miz accept LaGreca’s challenge and give the Busted Open fans the match they have been waiting to see? Or will Dave LaGreca be able to claim victory over the former champion?

Tune in to Busted Open on Sirius XM, Wednesday, July 27th from 2pm-4pm EST on Sirius XM to find out if Miz accepts the challenge. Busted Open can regularly be heard every Monday and Wednesday from 2-4 EST on Channel 92, for Sirius subscribers, 207 for XM subscribers and Sports Zone 860 on the internet. Also check out Busted Open online at http://www.bustedopen.net, http://facebook.com/BustedOpen, and http://www.twitter.com/BustedOpenRadio.

Money in the Bank Match: Edge vs. Randy Orton vs. Mark Henry vs. The Miz vs. John Morrison vs. Evan Bourne vs. Chris Jericho vs. Ted DiBiase.

Randy Orton was the first to come out, and Edge was last. Maryse accompanied Ted DiBiase, and was seated at ringside near the announcers. Edge put a ladder in the ring before the bell rang.

Edge slid out of the ring at the bell, and some wrestlers tried to grab the ladder, but Mark Henry stood on it. Everyone started brawling, and Miz hit a clothesline in the corner on Henry, then Bourne hit Miz with a jumping knee and Henry with a kick in a corner. Everyone cleared out of the ring, and Edge ran in and tried to climb, but Orton cut him off and brawled with Edge to the floor. In the ring, DiBiase went for a ladder, but Morrison kicked him. DiBiase clotheslined Morrison, who fell onto a ladder. DiBiase used the ladder to knock Orton off the apron, then Bourne ran in and kicked the ladder into DiBiase’s face. Miz ran in and rammed Bourne into the ladder, then tossed him from the ring.

Jericho got in and brawled with Miz. Mark Henry came in and knocked both of them down with a ladder. Henry straddled Miz on the middle rope. Jericho hit Henry with a ladder, then dropped it on him. Bourne dodged a ladder shot by Jericho and hit an enzugiri. Bourne climbed the ladder, but Edge stopped him. Bourne gave Edge a rana, sending him to the floor. Orton got in and stomped Bourne, then gave him an elevated DDT off the ladder. Morrison got in and gave Orton a Flying Chuck kick, sending him from the ring. Morrison went to suplex DiBiase, but Miz broke it up. Miz and DiBiase stomped Morrison, and they put a ladder in a corner. They whipped Morrison towards it, but he slid to a stop. Morrison gave Miz a Hot Shot and DiBiase a drop toe hold into the ladder.

Morrison, now alone in the ring, set up a ladder and began to climb. Edge climbed up the other side and brawled with Morrison on the ladder. Jericho set up another ladder and climbed up. Orton climbed the other side, and we had four men fighting and reaching for the case. Mark Henry came in and tipped over both ladders, sending all four men crashing to the floor. Evan Bourne spingboarded and used the ladder to fly into Henry with a kick. Maryse checked on DiBiase, then seeing no one in the ring, got on the apron and took her shoes off. Maryse set up a ladder and began to climb. John Morrison stopped her, and gently pulled her down. Morrison told her to leave, while DiBiase snuck in behind them and began to climb. Morrison turned and stopped him, but DiBiase rammed him into a ladder. Morrison went to the floor and pulled DiBiase outside.

Very few people audition for “The Real World” without loftier fame aspirations. But even fewer actually find themselves in front of a respectable camera lens after their time in MTV’s fishbowl ends. Only two notable exceptions emerge from 25 seasons: Jamie Chung represents for the women since she went from “Real World: San Diego” to “Hangover 2,” “Grown Ups” and “Sucker Punch” while Mike Mizanin keeps it real for the fellas. Although you may know him better as The Miz — especially since that’s the professional name he now goes by as a WWE World Champion.

Yes, the kid who once meekly got into a fight about race during “Real World: Back To New York,” now spends his days body slamming and out-talking the biggest stars in WWE’s arsenal.

Tonight he returns to his old stomping grounds — USA’s “Tough Enough” — to school the kids on what he’s learned during the last seven years of blood, sweat and tears. Lessons that The Miz previewed while chatting with PopWrap about reality TV, what it takes to become a WWE Superstar and what’s next on his journey of domination!

PopWrap: As someone who watched you talk about becoming a wrestler for years on “The Real World,” how surreal is it to finally be living your dream?

The Miz: You know, not only have I seen everything come full circle, but since almost everything has been on TV, my fans have seen it come full circle too. That’s the most amazing part — I can watch myself at 20 years old on “The Real World,” that young kid from Parma, who tried out for this show. Once I got on there, it became: what do I do after this? I created the character The Miz on “The Real World” and always wanted to be a WWE Superstar but living in Parma, you just kind of go through the motions: high school, college, family, job… But “The Real World” made me realize I could do anything I wanted with my life and that’s when I decided I would try to become a WWE Superstar.

PW: Does losing your season of “Tough Enough” still bug you?

The Miz: It’s very, very hard. Now, if Al Snow and Bill DeMott were picking the winner, I guarantee they would have picked me, but it was the audience that picked my Tough Enough and Daniel Puder ended up winning, so I had to go home. But I impressed The WWE execs and got a developmental contract for Deep South Wrestling, where I was tormented. It was hardcore. Bill was my trainer and every day I’d wake up telling myself, “one more day – you can do this!” Literally it was brutal. Bill DeMott’s training is very, very hard, but it shows who really wants to be in The WWE and who will make it – Bill prepared me for The WWE. He prepared me for everything that could possibly happen. And as hard as all that training was, nothing compared to how hard it really is once you’re inside The WWE.

PW: Then you moved up to Smackdown as the host, what was that like?

The Miz: Everyone thought I was a joke. No one took me seriously. The Superstars kicked me out of their locker room because they didn’t like me. They thought I got a contract because of “The Real World” — it was like walking on eggshells for the first few years, but Bill’s training taught me not to worry about that stuff. Instead I worked hard, did my own thing and paid respect to the veterans. Now, I’m a former WWE Champion, respected by all – no one can take me down because I’m the best. Even though I did lose in a Quit Match the other day, it’s ok – I beat the hell out of Cena [laughs].

PW: Tonight you’re back on “Tough Enough,” what’s been the biggest lesson you learned over the last seven years working your way up through the ranks?

The Miz: Everyone knows I didn’t win “Tough Enough.” But I was the first contestant to lose and become WWE Champion. So just because you lose, doesn’t mean your passion should stop. But it takes a lot of hard work to get where I am now. It took a lot of sacrifice. It took a lot of people just putting me down, telling me I’ll never make it – all these negative things to beat me down mentally … and physically since you’re in a ring every night. These kids need to find out if they have the passion and if they do, that just because they don’t win, it’s not over. Work hard and you can be a WWE Superstar. If anyone could do this, then everyone would.

PW: You’ve won the WWE Championship — what’s next?

The Miz: This whole process has been one long journey, chapters in a book, and once I succeed in one, I focus on the next. I want to be looked at as the guy who will take this company to the next level. I want to become the face of The WWE. I want people to think of The WWE and think of The Miz. I need to become bigger than John Cena, bigger than The Rock, bigger than Stone Cold. If you’re in The WWE and beating them isn’t your ultimate goal, you shouldn’t even be here.

Site visitor Michael sent along an email telling me about his Miz tattoo that he has gotten recently and wanted it to be featured here on the site. Well, who am I to say no? This is an awesome thing to do. See Miz! Look at the dedication you have from this fan. Photo below along with what he had to say about him:

I have been a huge miz fan since his debut and actually recently got a tattoo of his logo on my arm. I play football at Kean University and we are all big wrestling fans.

Impressive! Thanks again to Michael who sent along this photo. If you have anything that you have done which you want to be featured on the site, then send along an email to me at maddie@themiz.net.
