Night of Champions Preview

United States Champion The Miz vs. Daniel Bryan

The Miz has always been vocal about his self-proclaimed “awesomeness,” particularly during his reign as United States Champion. However, Mr. Money in the Bank’s former NXT Rookie Daniel Bryan hopes to silence his one-time mentor at Night of Champions, when he challenges The “Awesome One” for the U.S. Title.

Even while paired together as Rookie and Pro on the inaugural season of WWE NXT, Daniel Bryan and The Miz didn’t exactly see eye to eye, with Daniel Bryan preferring to let his in-ring actions – not his words – do the talking as he vied to become WWE’s next breakout star. Week after week, The Miz voiced his dissatisfaction with his Rookie, sentiments echoed by WWE NXT and Raw announcer Michael Cole. It was perhaps that constant, unwarranted criticism that convinced Daniel Bryan to align himself with his fellow Rookies in The Nexus, taking part in the nefarious group’s initial Raw invasion on Viewer’s Choice Night. However, Daniel Bryan was soon ousted from The Nexus due to clashing ideals, leaving WWE in the process. The Miz couldn’t have been happier.

The WWE Universe likely thought they’d seen the last of Daniel Bryan, making his return at SummerSlam as a key member of Team WWE all the more surprising. Daniel Bryan helped Team WWE defeat his former Nexus allies, much to the chagrin of would-be Team WWE member The Miz, whose ego had only grown during Daniel Bryan’s absence. To The Miz, Daniel Bryan had stolen his rightful spot on Team WWE, along with its accompanying accolades.

With his new, like-minded NXT Rookie Alex Riley by his side, The “Awesome One” has tormented his season one Rookie at every turn. However, he’s also more than once found himself on the receiving end of Daniel Bryan’s excruciating submission maneuver, the LeBell Lock.

Can Daniel Bryan humble his former WWE Pro, earning his first WWE championship win in the process? Or will The “Awesome One” have yet another reason to gloat after delivering a Skull (and potentially spirit)-Crushing Finale to his former Rookie? To find out, tune in to Night of Champions, Sept. 19, only on pay-per-view.

Live RAW Coverage – 06/09

The Miz is shown backstage, telling Josh that whatever it is he is looking at behind a black curtain is “perfect”, he will be reveiling whatever it is later tonight, Miz also states that tonight is all about The Miz and that the world will see – showing “The Journey Of The Road Of Awesome!”

Comcerical comes to an end and The Miz is standing in the ring with a covered stand behind him, he says to the universe how he was told 6 years ago that he had “no right to be here” – that so many voices from superstars and fans are telling him to go back to MTV. Miz shows the highlights from his career from Real World to Tough Enough to becoming a host of Friday night Smackdown, but still he hears these “voices” – and they got louder. He then shows him with John Morrison where they won the Tag Team Championships – that it wasn’t good enough, that people were saying Morrison was the star of the two. Miz then asks the universe, what happened after they split – he won the United States Championship. Miz then states that people still said he wasn’t good enough that it was a fluke. Then he explains how next in his career – he won the Money In The Bank Match, now proving that he is the biggest star in the entire company, which leads him to uncover his cover of WWE Magazine!

Miz explains that as a child, he would collect every issue of WWE Magazine, and that he would dream of getting a cover of that magazine – and now that it has happened, he wants to hear that all the fans of WWE stand up out of their seats and do what they should of done along time ago, and admit that they were wrong to say that he did not deserve to be there, and that he is the poster child, not Cena, not Orton – HIM!
He then says, that they have nothing else to do but admit that he has made it – because he is AWESOME! Daniel Bryan’s theme music hits the arena, Daniel then begins walking down the ramp to a waiting Miz. Daniel claims he has alot in common with Miz, but Miz states that Daniel has acomplished nothing in the WWE therefor they have nothing in common. Daniel claims that he can beat Miz for the United States Championship, Miz agree’s with Daniel that he did pay 10 dollars for his hair cut, but not that he can beat him for the United States championship. Daniel reverts to a fake WWE Magazine cover on the titan tron of Miz tapping out to the submission Daniel had Miz in last week on RAW. Daniel then explains he did not come to beat Miz up, but to say that he can beat Miz, he can make him tap out and that he can become the next United States Champion – Miz retaliates by explaining that he does not like Daniel Bryan, from when he was his NXT rookie, from when he took his place on Smackdown and for interrupting his celebration.

Daniel makes it clear, will Miz accept his challenge of defending the championship against Daniel Bryan – Miz accepts. Miz tries to attack Daniel Bryan, but Daniel reverses to try and put Miz back in the submission he had Miz in last week, which is then stopped by Alex Riley – that falls short when Daniel attacks Alex. Miz begins to run at Daniel with the MITB brief case but is thrown over the rope, Daniel then puts Alex Riley into the cross face he had Miz in last week, Alex atapping furiously on the mat. Daniel eyes the WWE Magazine cover as Miz stands on the ramp, Daniel then kicks the cover over, Miz then begins to back away into the locker room.
